If you’re looking for Johnny Rockets’ #1 fan, it just may be Aysah Luong – Assistant Manager at our Monterey, CA restaurant! Aysah has been working at Johnny Rockets for almost seven years, and it’s the only job she’s ever had. When she applied, she realized Johnny Rockets offered a unique concept. She had a good feeling about it, and once she started, she never left.
Aysah worked her way up the ladder, starting her career at Johnny Rockets as a server in our #146 Orange, CA restaurant. One year later, she was promoted to Supervisor. When an opening appeared in our Monterey restaurant, she applied and was hired as Assistant Manager. She has been there for two years now.
Aysah was part of the team this past September that helped train the new team at our new Bali restaurant in Indonesia in preparation for its opening. Aysah trained the cooks. This is Aysah’s second international restaurant opening trip for Johnny Rockets. Her first international training and support position was at our new Dominican Republic restaurant.
The best part of Aysah’s experience in Bali was working with the people. They were very receptive to our concepts and training, and wanted to learn anything and everything we could teach them. Even with the language barrier, they had fun with jokes and clowning around while learning. She hopes to be a part of another restaurant training and opening, whether it’s domestic or international, as she loves to travel, meet new people, and learn their cultures.
We sat down with Aysah and asked her some questions:
What do you like best about your job?
I love the overall concept of Johnny Rockets – it’s truly an all-American dining experience. I love the music, the dancing, and having fun while working.
Do you have a Johnny Rockets Mentor? If so, what is their special quality to make them your mentor?
My mentor is District Manager Daryl Pyburn. He has taught me that not all people are the same, and have different personalities. He is a great person to talk to and I can always count on him for advice.
Other than Johnny Rockets, what would be your dream job?
I’ve never thought about it. I’m so happy at Johnny Rockets and want to be a piece of its history. I want to grow with the company and experience anything and everything new!
What would be your ultimate job at Johnny Rockets?
I would like to open up my world by traveling with Johnny Rockets, training and opening up new restaurants for both domestic and international expansion.
What is your favorite Johnny Rockets menu item?
Route 66 – it’s a perfect combination (and toss in a side of onion rings!)
What is your favorite Shake flavor?
What is your favorite song on our jukebox?
“Celebration” by Kool & The Gang (We love to dance to it and even dedicate it to a Guest’s birthday by doing a special dance for them. They love it!)
What do you like to do in your spare time when you’re not working?
Scrapbooking. It releases my creative juices
What did you do on your summer vacation?
I visited my family and friends back home … and fit in a couple trips to Disneyland!
What makes you smile?
Johnny Rockets! I have fun at work and I love interacting with all the Guests.
If you see Aysah when dining with us, make sure to congratulate her on her rockin’ work!
